Millbrook Corporation is the creator of Practice Manager, a Windows-based program that helps physicians manage their appointments, billing, and insurance submissions. My case studies describe how Millbrook practice management software has streamlined doctors' offices and lowered their accounting expenses. In 2002, Millbrook was acquired by GE Healthcare; even after the sale, I have continued to write much of the marketing collateral for Centricity Physician Office and related software.

EDS is an information technology firm based in Plano, Texas. I worked with Tom Hill, Chief Technologist for CIO Services (now E.solutions) and an EDS Fellow, to create a white paper entitled "Information Technology Value: A Process for Determining the Business Value of Information Technology." This analysis was used for an online seminar.

USDATA supplies software tools and consulting services that help automate manufacturing, process control, and distribution and inventory applications. I wrote stories for USDATA about how its products have helped clients in different industries to automate their processes across different platforms and far-flung locations.
I have written patient-education booklets for Health Information Publications (HIP), which creates patient-education materials for physicians, hospitals, and medical websites. To write the booklets, I used technical material supplied by HIP, supplementing it with my own research and physician interviews.
I edited a series of articles for Mosby's electronic medical encyclopedia for consumers in 1997. I revised the articles as necessary to reach a 6th- to 8th-grade reading level, verified technical information, and ensured that each one conformed to the publication's style guide.

I have copyedited many different medical research journals, such as the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, Journal of Food Protection, and Veterinary Pathology. I have also written brochures and other materials for clients in the medical industry.
I developed press releases and comprehensive press kits for several nonfiction books published by HarperCollins Publishers between 1994 and 1996. The press kits included interview aids such as relevant questions and background material, as well as the usual press release, cover letter, and author bio.

I regularly write stories for several company newsletters published by KozakDesign, a virtual advertising and design firm. These newsletters are for a wide range of high-tech companies, mostly software developers in different industry niches. They are targeted at a general business audience within that client industry.
In 1994, I developed a videotape script and training manual for a training program that EDS needed to present worldwide. The script provided transitions into and out of an existing presentation video, and required me to write text that, when read, would fill precise time slots. I also developed the accompanying detailed manual for facilitators to use when teachng the class.
With microbiologists Steven Crawford and George Johnson, I have co-authored a number of articles on composting for trade journals. They provided drafts with all the technical information, then I reorganized and rewrote them to produce clear, logical, well-supported articles.
